What makes our chickens different from 'supermarket' chickens...
Their all-natural diet, how they are raised, and -- best of all-- how they taste!
Arriving on the farm as day old chicks hatched in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania and from breeding stock which has been imported from the Burgundy and Brittany regions of France, the genetics of our birds come from the old American and European heritage birds which have been a part of the French Label Rouge Free Range tradition -- which is noted for having the very highest standards for Free Range poultry production in the entire world. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Diet, Health and Taste
Our chickens are raised on fresh, green forages
and natural, local grains.
The green material of fresh forage provides B vitamins and carotenes, some of which the chicken turns into Vitamin A.
Exposure to sunlight ensures that the fat will contain Vitamin D.
Omega-3 fatty acids in the forage also end up in the fat.
As a result of all these things, our chickens will have a deeper, more flavorful taste and a bit less white meat than you may be accustomed to.
Why our chickens cost a little bit more...
Simply put, producing a high quality, hand-raised product typically does cost a little bit more...
The slower growing nature of our chickens and the high quality grains used to supplement the greens and proteins of the pasture require more labor and feed input.
This results in a tastier, naturally raised high quality chicken at a slightly higher price...but definitely worth every penny!
